Taking A Break

I've been working hard on getting my shows out there, applying to NYMF (cross your fingers), cabarets (But I Want To is making another repeat appearance in The Gallery, along with a showing in a Penn State show!), and high school drama departments (we got emails from Kansas, New Jersey, and Connecticut expressing interest, and so I decided, why not mail cds and scripts to all 50 states? we'll see how far i get!), so I feel like I've earned a break. Weather is perfect for wild chanterelles like those above; Bret and I hauled in over 3 lbs last weekend. I dry sautee them in the pan, then simmer till the liquid has evaporated, concentrating all the flavor in the mushrooms. Add a blop of sour cream and toss it with hot penne and it's delicious.

My next elusive prey are the rainbow trout in local streams. They have proven wilier than the fungii; last week's fishing trip yielded a healthy catch of California (my dad's old joke whenever a lure would snag rocks - i still think it's funny, dad!).

My father in law has given me a lovely fly rod and I'm thinking of taking it for a test run. We'll see. Then back to slave over a hot printer, elbow-deep in applications.

Dear Heidi,

Thank you for visiting my blog. I do enjoy the songs (that I've heard) that you write very much!

How wonderful it would be if I could photograph your first opening. :) I would be honored.

Have a wonderful weekend, Robin :)
