I've been flying around this past week, quite busy - over the weekend I was in Las Vegas to help my father with an art show, and this week I'm in Oregon for a bit of a family emergency -- I touched down in SFO for less than a day -- i didn't even unpack my suitcase. But there's some good news back in NYC that I kind of want to fly back for:
My other collaborator, Rob Baumgartner, (for once, not Mike Pettry of Time Travelers Convention fame) with whom I've written a show, Under Construction, and our friend, Tarina Szemzo, have an audition this Friday in front of a producer. Rob and Tarina have amazing voices, and I am tagging along as the third part of the team as the lyricist.
(Tarina is actually slated to sing on our demo, which we have to finish before Christmas when she goes to Hungary to star for a few months in a Hungarian Soap Opera.) (Yes.)
Additionally, Mike Pettry is back in NYC this week, on vacation from his tour with Dirty Rotten Scoundrels. We've been actually rewriting the opening number of Time Travelers a bit, and while he's on the road he only has his little iPod recorder - so i have a few recordings of Mike pounding the piano keys and getting REALLY into singing: "Invitations to the future" becomes "INVITAAAAAASHUNS TO THA FYYYYYYUUUUUUUUUUUTCHUUUUUUUR". . . I guess what i'm saying is that I have something with which to blackmail him later.
I'll be back in SF on Thursday night awaiting news of new recordings from Mike and potential productions, fame, and fortune from Rob and Tarina. I'll wait till Saturday to unpack, just in case.
